Question:
If a subject is asked to make an unscheduled trip to the research site; for example, you note an issue with their consent that needs to be corrected, is it acceptable to give them a gas card for their trouble?

Response:
WCG IRBs do not require a change in research submission or updated documents if it is a single event due to unforeseen circumstances. We allow clients to pay subjects for one off scenarios like this without having to submit updated documents or consent forms. However, if it is anticipated that this could occur again in the future, then we would expect them to submit a revised consent form to address it.
